Iowa Land Auction Prices, September 16-22, 2023

September 25, 2023

Top honors go to Palo Alto County with a sale at $17,500/acre. Honorable mention goes to Kossuth County at $17,200/acre. Auction activity will slow a bit in October for harvest but lots of activity is expected in November and December.

On November 11, 2022, Sioux County shattered Midwest land price records with 73.19 acres selling for $30,000/acre. I thought this record would last several years in the corn belt states. Well, on September 21 of this year, 115 acres sold at auction for $34,800/acre near Malta Bend, MO - Saline County in West Central MO. I interviewed the auctioneer and here are the comments: “Starting bid $15,000/acre; 2 local farmer bidders; 15 minutes to negotiate price; land was purchased to farm; no development potential; pedigreed farm that had been in same family for over 100 years; buyer & runner up bidder were not related to sellers; tract is upland and not in the Missouri River Bottom.”

You can now purchase additional sale data, as well as sale flyers for upcoming auctions! Visit my newsletter page to inquire: : PURCHASE additional land auction data.

“That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!”
